September in Mexico

September the 15th in Mexico.

At the very beginning of this blog I mentioned that the goal of this space is to teach Spanish language with grammar, vocabulary, listening and culture, I do not forget the target that I have and all the things I want to share with you. For this reason I would like to give you some cultural information; this time is about the importance of the month of September in Mexico. Why is everybody putting the Mexican flag in their houses?  Why everyone is using Mexican hats? Why all the cities in Mexico are lighted with green, white and red colors?

Oh yeah! September arrives and everything means party everywhere! Let’s start with a little history of this month. September is the month of the independence of Mexico, just as the forth of July in USA or July the 14th in France, the Independence Day in Mexico is September the 15th. It was not an easy independence it took place from September 1810 to September 1821, can you imagine 11 years fighting for being an independent country? Not easy not easy!

People who fought for not being under the Spanish kingdom anymore were: Miguel Hidalgo, Agustin de Iturbide, Vicente Guerrero, Jose María Morelos y Pavón, Josefa Ortíz de Dominguez, Ignacio Allende, Juan Aldama and more.

It was a very difficult time but I do not hate anybody from Spain I swear! The independence of Mexico was so long time ago so no hate for anybody, actually I really want to invite you to go to Mexico in September, everything is beautiful and there are so much things to do and eat.

In Guerrero, a state of Mexico, people usually go to Jaripeos; it is a party where you can see riders on bulls and mariachi.
riders

In september you could be part of these parties.

The night of September 15th and the morning of September 16th at 12:00 am the president of Mexico, and every president of each city, rings the bell of the city hall and starts yelling the follow expressions:

¡Viva Hidalgo!
¡Viva Morelos!
¡Viva Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez!
¡Viva la independencia!
¡Viva México, Viva México, Viva México!

This is because of ''El grito de Dolores’’, which means the beginning of the independence war. Miguel Hidalgo rang the bell of the parish of Dolores (a city in Guanajuato), with Ignacio Allende y Juan Aldama. Due to this act of this 3 important people of the independence of Mexico, now days the president of every city rings the bell and shout the expressions that were mentioned before; everyone has to yell the same thing after the president does, then a lot of fireworks explode in the sky, finally everyone goes to a night club with their friend.

I really hope you guys like to know a little bit of Mexican culture, next month you will know about ''Día de Muertos'' it is not Halloween! If you want to know something in particular write it in the comments and I will provide the information best information.

Personal pronouns

One of the first things you have to learn in your Spanish classes is noun. Just like English every sentence is made up of two main parts: Subject and predicate (which always include a verb). Subjects are the most important part of a sentence because they are what we talk about.

Personal pronouns are used to replace a noun; when you talk several times about the same noun, you might get sick of the same word, actually it could be difficult or boring to read or to listen. To avoid boredom you need to learn and use personal pronouns in every foreign language you are learning.

Personal pronouns

Singular
plural
Yo (I)
Nosotros, nosotras (we)
Tú ( you, informal)
Vosotros, vosotras ( you, informal in Spain)
Usted ( you, formal)
Ustedes (you)
Él, ella, ello, ( he, she, it)
Ellos,ellas, (they)

There are two charts to show you the personal pronouns, study the one that makes you understand better this lessons. If you have any question or any doubt just write it in the comments and I will give a lessons of your questions.

Remember that personal pronouns are used as replacements; here there are some exercises to complete with personal pronouns, Good luck!

* María trabaja de lunes a viernes.____________ es una persona capaz de eso y más.

*Carmen y sus primos estudian Inglés por las mañanas y _______ también aprenden ruso los fines de semana.

*Mi mamá y mi papá son los mejores del mundo, ____________ me han cuidado desde que nací.

*El coche de mi primo es morado, _________ se ve muy raro.
